2009 LETTERS FROM WOLFIE by Patti Sherlock

1. Why did Mark send Wolfie into the army?

2. Who was Wolfie's handler? Was he good to Wolfie?

3. How was Wolfie's handler's life improved by his association with the dog?

4. What big change did Mark, Claire, their mothers, the vets, and others want to happen regarding army dogs?

1) Mark sent Wolfie into the army because he wanted Wolfie to help boys like his brother, Danny. He also did it to feel important.

2) Wolfie's handler was Tucker Smalley.

3) Wolfie made everyone smile and feel better about themselves, even during the toughest of times.

4) They all wanted the dogs to be sent home to their owners and to stop risking their lives because they do not have a say in whether or not they are a part in the war. "DOGS ARE NOT EQUIPMENT!"

I was so sad when Wolfie was killed. He was so brave.

1) Mark sent Wolfie to the army because he wanted to help soldiers in the army, like Danny. Danny wrote a letter home saying that the army needed Scout Dogs.

2)Wolfie's handler was Tucker Smalley. Yes, he was good to Wolfie. For example, he would share his food rations with him.

3) He changed his attitude towards other people and didn't act as tough and mean.

4) They wanted the army dogs to come safely home to the United States of America.

P.S. GroovyBoy was upset when he read that the dogs were being left as equipment.
