1) Penny's dad was thought to be a spy and was really just an Italian who got in trouble for owning a radio. He was taken to Ellis Island, then was sent to an army base in Maryland. From there, he was sent to another interment camp in Oklahoma. There, he died after being sick for a long time. I couldn't believe how horrible he was treated just for owning a radio.
2) Penny's name came from two possible sources. One is form the song that his dad loved a lot. The other is because he loved him like a shiny penny.
3) I think the ending was pretty good and she was doing a petty good job wrapping up the story.
1)People thought her dad was a spy, but he really wasn't. He got in trouble for having a radio he wasn't supposed to. He then was taken into custody. After being taken from one camp to another, he fell sick and died. Yes, because I never thought our military would be so cruel.
2)There was a song, "Pennies from Heaven", that was her dad's favorite song.The other was because he loved her like a shinny penny, you don't want to put it down.
3)I liked the ending, but I wish that the two families would stay a big happy family like they were the night of the family dinner. She did an O.K. job of tying up loose ends at the ending of the book.
1) Penny's died when he was sick at a camp which the FBI took him to as punishment for owning a radio. I was really suprised because I did not know that Italians were treated so badly.
2) The two explinations are that Pennies from Heaven was the name of her father's favorite Bing Crosby song and the second way is that her father said She was gonna be shiny and bright. There was also a third mentioned by Uncle Dominic and that was that her father said " that baby's just like a lost penny i'll never hold again" while he was dying.
3) The ending was O.K. It seemed possible that they came closer together when Penny was hurt and when sh learned the truth.
1) Her dad died. I did surprise me because all he did was own a radio.
