1. How do you feel about what "prejudice" meant in the South now that you have read this book?
2. Do you think you have a better understanding of what life was like at that period of time in U.S. history?
3. Alice Ann Moxley came from Chicago and ended up in Jackson, Mississippi in 1964. What, if any differences did you notice between her "northern" concept of African Americans and that of characters in the south? Do you still see or hear racial attacks like those described in the novel?
